True temper forging hammer is well accepted by black smiths. This 4lb wedge hammer on one side and flat the other can be use to cut hot steel. Wood handle will shrink when wood is dried as constantly working in hot environment. To restore a snug fit, occasional soaking in water will swell the timber to fit tight the hammer head.
