Glaze firing support pin stilts are kiln shelves saver that prevent glaze run off in firing. Any unsupported glazes runoff will permanently bond glazed wares to the kiln shelf. Even with firing stilts it is advisable to apply kiln wash occasionally as secondary protection to the kiln shelf and the base of the stilts to pry off shelf in unfortunate glaze run off.
