Sharp ready to use honed and polished Pfeil V parting straight carving tool. Suited for hard or soft wood carving details. Manufactured by reknown Swiss Pfeil from hard alloy steel the tool is forged and heat treated uniformly to hardness 59-61 HRC. The taper tang is forged with a bolster flange that prevent the tool from being driven into or spliting the handle by consistent mallet strikes. Handle is from ash wood and treated with solvent free natural oil.
Tool maintenance sharpening by fine water whetstone mesh 3000 or finer. Final honing over a vegetable tanned leather strop dressed with 1 micron diamond paste for mirror polish. Store dry lightly oil with paraffin oil.
