Multifilla Paper Clay, commonly known as paper clay is a fine malleable modeling clay that self-hardens without kiln firing. Its density and hardness is equivalent to ceramic clay as non fired ceramic. Its natural whiteness accepts any form of coloring media. Triple thick waterbase varnish is then applied to obtain a gloss which resembles glazed ceramic effect.
As a creative art media, Multifilla Clay is ideal for all ages in handicraft classes, schools, art studios, recreational and hobby use. As a self-hardening clay in which the drying process can be controlled, it is versatile in its usage as 3D decorative art, functional art or as an expressive media in creative art. Packed in an attractive heavy duty moisture-proof wrapper of 200g per pack, it has prolonged shelf life. However in storage its moisture will gradually dry and clay will weigh less than 200g. To restore moisture, wrap paper clay in a damp clean hand towel and place inside a plastic container.
Multifilla paper clay unlike other paper clay is non fired ceramic clay reinforced with long cellulose paper fibres. It dries hard and smooth, can be carved, sanded and burnished without any traces of fibres. Its high density and smoothness is ideal as a non fired ceramic clay and used by many to repair fired ceramic clay. Like all natural clay shrinkages is expected and if restricted, cracks will be expected but can be patched with same and burnished marble smooth.
Ideal for making thin flower, leaves print from actual leaves, stems over floral wires, trunks and barks. Matt seal and paint with acrylic paints.
Cosplayers makes props from Multifilla paper clay into hard dense objects that can be glued to metal, MDF and wood. Water base modelling glue recommended as compatible with water base clay. When completely dried, attachment can be with super glue, hot melt, epoxy and even milliput epoxy putty.
Dioramas as rocks, tree trunks, cobble stone, rubble walls, miniatures figure, furniture. Ideal for press molding with release agent for multiples reproduction.
Taxidermy to repair, horns, claws, nails, beaks, hoofs and even shape noses for its ceramic like hardness paintable with acrylics to match.
Repairs of wall cracks, infilling of repaired ceramics, high densities foams, wood cracks are more durable with modelling glue or PVA glue in cracks prior patching. Blending PVA glue with this fiborous paper clay into a paste as brush on fine crack filler.
Can be fired like ceramic clay to cone 03 (1060°C) as lightweight ceramic accessories with 10- 15 % shrinkage.
Durability assured as Multifilla paper clay projects crafted in 1985 are still solid on display in our showroom.
Beseiged 1008 – Courtesy of first time users of Multifilla Paper Clay. Beseiged 1008 is actually a very detailed model of a middle-age castle being raided by enemy forces. The whole model took a total of 20 Multifilla Paper Clay packets to construct in a span of two weeks. Beseiged 1008 is currently on display at Multifilla’s showroom.
