Like all polymer clay kneading before use is a prerequisite to reconstitute the clay. This is to avoid shrinkage cracks and to soften the clay too. Bake to manufacturer’s recommendation of 130°C for 15 minutes for every 6mm of thickness. Should the sculpture be a solid polymer clay structure construct in layers baking each layer to maturity before adding the next.
Baked polymer clay can be sanded, carved and drilled. Color with acrylics, aerosol paints, gloss with H2O covercoat varnish or simply burnished and polished. H2O varnish will not react with polymer clay over time and become tacky.
Please note stocks clearance of ALL 1lb Original/Super Sculpey hard clays require kneading with Sculpey clay softener before use. Break clay into lumps and place inside glass bottle. Dose sufficient clay softener shake well overnight. Press crumbs into roller at widest setting. Several passes with clay roller gradually reducing the roller gap width or an acrylic roller is necessary. Add sufficient amount and knead well but not over softening which you can add more crumbly polymer clay.
