Natural sharpening stone are hard to obtain as natural deposits are fast deminishing. These large sharpening stones 80mm x 52mm x200mm Length nominal size are suited for professional and kitchen sharpening of knives, hand tools, chisels and carving knives. Available in grit sizes Mesh #1000, #4000 and #6000 are to be used progressively for a polished mirror surface of cutting tools. Natural stones are to be used wet and secured on a sharpening jig over a basin of water. Before use soak stone completely in water for 10 minutes. Then mount on to the sharpening jig secured over a basin of water. During sharpening the abrasive stone will remove minute metal particles in the slurry. Continue sharpening in this slurry occasionally dripple some water to keep stone wet and lubricated. The metallic slurry helps to polish the abraded tool surface.
Stones need to be dressed before or during use to keep surface level and flat. On a glass plate apply silicon carbide grains Mesh 200 with water as a slurry and grind surface flat. The stone back need to be ground flat too. Remove any trace of carbide after grinding before using stone.
