To loosen blade a sharp tap from behind on the ebony holder. Remove to sharpen and reset with fine adjustment by tapping ebony holder on the front to the correct depth. Finally strike the wood shim on the blade to final set.
Sharpen on a wet stone mesh #1000 and above on the bevel surface followed lastly on the flat surface. Ensure stone is flat by dressing with a coarse mesh #30 silicon carbide stone. Final strop on leather dressed with 1 micron or finer diamond paste to hone polish blade.
