Place strop on a flat surface and pull backwards the sharpened edge both sides several times after sharpening to hone till a polished mirror sheen is achieved. Only gentle pressure on the knife as not to round up the cutting edge. Polishing strop is best used after sharpening with sharpening compound bar applied liberally on the flesh side. The smooth grain side is for fine honing and polishing. Polishes carbon steel, alloy steel, stainless steel and alloy metal knives and tools. Polished mirror surface deters rusting.
