Wood former for sheet metal, leather, jewellery designing and wood forming with G clamps. Set consist of Male, female die and former. Best strike with nylon, leather or rubber mallet in forming as not to damage wood former.
Best suited to form leather. Dampen vegetable tanned leather by sponging with water and when about dry clamp between the male and female profile till dry. It will not leave any stains on the leather unlike using a metal former. Dressing leather with soft soap before clamping helps to lubricate and conform better to profile. It also allows burnishing the leather grain when dried to a smooth worn apprearance.
To form wood veneer or strips best steam or boil the wood before forming under clamps. When formed dress with Tung oil as this slow drying oil seeps into grain cells and polymerises to water proof against further shrinkages expansion and contraction.
